Setting Up a Training Schedule for Your Team

Training is another important area that you need to focus on to fully benefit your team. Getting your training schedule and coaching system right can improve your teams performance and individual players attributes.

This section will help you put together your training schedule as well as providing downloadable training schedules.

Coaches - I recommend that you assign one coach for each area of training. The training areas are; Strength, Aerobic, Goalkeeping, Tactics, Ball Control, Defending, Attacking, Shooting and Set Pieces. So in total you should have at least 9 coaches, or 8 if you can get your assistant manager to cover one of the training aspects. Doing this means that the coach will only take the part of training that he is most skilled at and the players will benefit more. You will notice to that doing this increases the star rating of each aspect of training. (for more information on coaches visit the Staff page)

Your Training Schedule

I recommend having a training schedule for players in each position. I always have 7 separate schedules, one for each of the following positions:

Goalkeeper - (default schedule)
Wing Backs (right/left back) - Download Training Schedule
Centre Back - Download Training Schedule
Defensive Midfielder - Download Training Schedule
Central Midfielder - Download Training Schedule
Wingers (right/left midfielder/attacking midfielder) - Download Training Schedule
Striker - Download Training Schedule

(Copy downloaded files into My Documents>Sports Interactive>Football Manager 2010>Schedules and then import into your game in the training screen, Schedules>Manage Schedules>Import)

Each schedule is made up of 9 training areas which culminates in a workload. The 9 training areas are Strength, Aerobic, Goalkeeping, Tactics, Ball Control, Defending, Attacking, Shooting and Set Pieces.

Note: Workload should be at the highest medium setting, if it is too high it will frustrate your players and tire them out. If workload creeps into high the high setting when you're adjusting the individual training areas, just pull it back into medium and it will decrease each training area by an equal fraction

Here is a guide to help you set up your training schedule for each position: (or alternatively download them above)

(Example of terms used:
Low Medium = the first medium setting, Mid Medium = the centre point of the medium setting, Top Medium = The highest medium setting)
